Tudor Watches – Brand History

Founded by Hans Wilsdorf in Geneva, Switzerland in 1926, Tudor has a reputation as one of the most exclusive horologists in the watchmaking industry, creating some of the most desirable timepieces of all time.

Tudor was not Wilsdorf’s first watch company. In fact, Wilsdorf is the founder of Rolex, and he founded Tudor as a separate sister company. The Rolex name can actually be seen on some rare antique Tudor timepieces. The brands remain sisters to this day, with both brands being owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation.

Being the sister of Switzerland’s most well-established and renowned watch brand, the technical and aesthetic quality of Tudor watches has always been without question. But this younger sibling didn’t carve out its own identity in the watchmaking sphere until much later on in the 20th century. Eventually, Tudor’s individuality began to shine, creating watches that were both stylish and reliable with an undeniable element of sophistication and charm.

Since its conception, Tudor has consistently created impressive and refined watches that combine timeless design with modern innovation, a legacy which has continued through the 21st century and into the modern day.
